What is forex trading?
Forex trading is the buying and selling of currency pairs, such as EUR/USD, to profit from changes in their exchange rate. It trades over-the-counter through brokers, 24 hours a day, five days a week, with about $7.5 trillion in daily volume.
How do I start forex trading as a beginner?
Learn pips, lots and leverage, practise on a free demo account for one to three months, then open a live account with a broker regulated by a tier-one authority such as the FCA, ASIC or CySEC, and risk no more than 1% of your balance per trade.
How much money do you need to start?
Brokers accept deposits from $10 to $250, but a practical starting balance is $500 to $1,000 so that 1% risk per trade stays tradable with micro lots.
What is a pip worth?
One pip is 0.0001 on most pairs and 0.01 on JPY pairs. On a standard lot it is about $10, on a mini lot about $1, and on a micro lot about $0.10.
How do I choose a safe broker?
Require a tier-one licence, segregated client funds and negative balance protection, then compare all-in cost (spread plus commission), execution quality and withdrawal reliability.
What is the best time to trade forex?
The London–New York overlap, roughly 12:00–16:00 GMT, offers the deepest liquidity and tightest spreads on major pairs.
